In this world of push button technology , video games continue to fascinate the tender age children , teenagers and even the adults. Video games are the games that can be played both on TV as well as on mobile. The elite flaunt their wealth by buying expensive video games. So , they are also the means of ostentatious display of wealth. But , in this modern world , the excess of everything is bad. These video games have attracted the children in such a way that the children are glued to them , making them lethargic and a couch potato. Children force their parents to buy them these games. Even if they are forbidden to play these games , children secretly play them without the knowledge of their parents. Video games can also result in poor eating habits and obesity. Children playing these games have a sedentary lifestyle and they become aggressive and rebellious. These games can also result in a muscular and postural disorder at a tender age. These games also have an adverse effect on the academics and prevents them from any human contact. Children get hooked to them and then they live in the world of make belief. These games also result in reduction of physical fitness and children have numbness in hand , elbow and shoulders. The rays emitted by these games also have a harmful effect on our eyes. Children become a slave to these games and some even indulge in nefarious activities. They envisage their own world , a world of aversion , violence and aggressiveness. These games soon become a part and parcel of their lives. This virtual world of video games becomes a utopia for them They become pessimist and obstreperous. But , like every coin has a flip side , video games can also be useful. Video games when played within limit , can act like a stress buster and an antidote for loneliness. They can be our recreational activity and can release us from our monotony. These can synchronize  and co-ordinate our hand and eye. They improve our reaction skills and concentration in children with short attention span. They can even boost our imagination and can be educational. These games develop the spirit of healthy competition and can improve our cognitive functions. These games can even help introverts or autistic children in socialising and communication with others. They can help in developing self confidence and self esteem in a child. Action games can increase heart rate by an average of 20bpm. Researchers have also revealed that playing active video games can help in burning calories , loosing weight and can become an alternative for out door activities in near future. A study also shows that playing these games can produce dopamine , a hormone that acts like a neurotransmitter and plays a major role in reward-motivating behaviour. In a nutshell , the excess of everything is bad. Video games when played in excess can result in insomnia , obesity and backpain but when played within a limit , can improve memory , attention , focus , speed, creativity and flexibility. So , it is the duty of the parents and guardians to limit their child from playing video games and keep a check on them as the obvious objective of video games is to entertain people not to recalcitrant them.
