As Dr. Martin Luthor King Junior has rightly said , “Intelligence plus character is the goal of true education.”Life without value education is like bird without its wings. Values help us and guide us to achieve our goals. It builds our character and help us to imbibe qualities like patience , honesty , empathy , love , etc. for our fellow human beings. A man with high values can never indulge in any sort of corruption. A person with strong character is always ethical. His company is loved and appreciated by all. These values help in minimising corruption.
But what is corruption?Corruption is that evil which works for ones selfish interests , motives and usually makes the person compromise on what is right. Many activities like bribery , fraud , theft , blackmail etc come under corruption. These activities hamper the development and growth of a nation.
With help of education , we can reduce corruption. According to a report by Transparency International , The least corrupt state in India is Kerala , where the literacy rate is highest in India. Anti-corruption education can be imparted both formally and informally. Formally through curriculum activities and informally through social activities and campaigns. The key target of this is spreading awareness and providing the most favorable conditions for the future generations.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was very keen in promoting this concept by addressing students throughout the country. He pointed out that corruption is the lack of intellectual , moral and financial integrity.
Today , temptation and greed urges a person towards corruption. In order to tackle corruption , we need to educate the masses and make them morally upright to fight corruption. In the end I would like to say that corruption is spreading like pollution and causing destruction. So , we must spread the wings of education to eliminate this stigma from the society.
