As rightly quoted by Thich Nhat Hanh , “Keeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos- the trees, the clouds , everything.” Health and Fitness are two important aspects of our life which require much needed attention , but are often ignored. These are the real wealth of a person as they are a must to lead a harmonious and contented life. Times have changed and so have the habits and lifestyle of the humans. But despite our hectic and monotonous schedule , we must find a way to keep ourselves fit.

During these uncertain times which we all are facing unitedly , health and fitness should be are top priority. It becomes very important for all of us to boost are immunity and build a good physique to fight against the virus. As we know a sound mind resides in a sound body , we should excercise daily to keep our mind fresh and stress free. Keeping fit doesn’t only mean physically , but also mentally and socially. Individuals who do not have a good mental health can suffer from breakdowns and panic attacks.

We must understand ways to be fit as it has become very difficult for us to eat home cooked meals. But it doesn’t mean we should avoid eating our favourite food. To make up for the less healthier food , we must raise the bar and excercise regularly. We must not skip meals as it leads to slow metabolism and we feel more and more lethargic. Small quantities of food should be taken for proper assimilation of food. A balanced diet should be taken along with overwhelming intake of water as it regulates all are body functions.

We can take part in outdoor activities to maintain our fitness level and increase our stamina. Cycling increases our cardiovascular fitness along with muscle strength and flexibility. Swimming maintains the blood-glucose levels and also is very beneficial for our lungs. Yoga and Meditation are sublime to combat mental stress and illnesses. The practice of Yoga and meditation dates back over 5,000 years ago in ancient India. They have been practiced in India since time immemorial and have been mentioned in various ancient scriptures and seals. But Today , they have gained an international popularity as they considered to be the best way to re energize ourselves and stay healthy both physically and mentally. As rightly said by Swami Vivekanand , “The cheerful mind perseveres , and the strong mind hues its way through a thousand difficulties.”

Our body is our temple. If we want to spread love and positivity , we must love ourselves first. We must bring discipline into our lives in order to avoid health complications. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle doesn’t mean giving up on favourite fast food. We can afford cheat days once a week to enjoy ourselves too. As said by Anne Wilson , “Good health is not something that we can buy. However it can be an extremely valuable savings account.”
